Once thought to be somewhat sheltered from the effects of the global economic recession due to their escapist appeal, video games have recently begun to show signs of sluggish sales in the United States.
Several years ago, speculation about a Microsoft handheld might have been thrown out as purely ridiculous. At that time, the Redmond, Washington company was still testing the waters with its Xbox 360 console, and wide market acceptance of the hardware, as well as Microsoft's Xbox Live service, was still undetermined.
The handheld gaming market is pretty sparse these days. And though we have the major players like the Nintendo DS and the PSP, there are other options out there that get less face time. One such option is Pandora.
